Market Minute Overtime: Million Dollar Listing’s Ryan Serhant

Real Estate Mogul and Entrepreneur Ryan Serhant is CEO of 4 companies and firing on all cylinders. He reminds us of what we tell our kids: “ If you put your mind to it, you can do it.” And while we lose hope and sight of our big dreams, Ryan Serhant reminds us it can happen. After college where he studied theatre, he came to New York and struggled as an actor. His friend recommended he get a real estate license, and here he is with over $10B in sales and a huge firm in New York. He calls this year “202Thrive!”

The Work Ethic, the Vision, and his Netflix Show:   

Ryan believes in chasing many opportunities, showing you do not need a business degree to get ahead. He’s also strategic, not buying things like cars, but instead building enterprise value and reinvesting the dollars he makes into hiring new people and building the businesses. He has a ruthless desire to win and beat everybody.

Ryan noted that it’s important to diversify. In addition to over $10 Billion in sales and being a two-time Emmy nominee for “Million Dollar Listing,” he’s now starring in the Netflix (NFLX) Show “Owning Manhattan”, filming Season 2 right now. He also is extremely excited about helping all his agents with the inundation of administration work by using A.I. with his company software, Simple. Don’t forget Sell It.com – also his. This is what he means by diversify: different niches within the same field. On techniques for success, he says, “don’t be afraid of being embarrassed.” If you are willing to work, “the market does not dictate your income, it only dictates your strategy.”

Buying Real Estate and Using Social Media For the Best Outcome:

Real Estate is a great business: there’s only so much land and so many houses.  Don’t get over your skis, he says, but the demand is incredible. His tips include focusing on location wherever you are: trophy property and trophy location will always increase over nonprime. He has millions of followers on social media: productize the attention, and you can build the biggest businesses. He uses LinkedIn for lead-flow and Instagram for brand awareness, with the pipeline of ‘content to community to commerce.’ Final note: always be branding .
