Market Minute: Previewing the Holiday Week

It’s a shortened week with the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and markets closing early Friday. Traders should watch out for lower volumes and potentially bigger price swings as less participants are active. Some of the biggest headlines this morning include Scott Bessent’s nomination for U.S. Treasury Secretary. Scott Bessent is an American hedge fund manager and was both a major fundraiser and economic advisor to Trump’s 2024 campaign. Oil, gold, and bitcoin prices have all cooled off premarket after intense runs up last week.

There are quite a few big earnings to watch this week, especially tomorrow: ANF, ADI, BBY, DKS, SJM, KSS, ADSK, CRWD, DELL, HPW, JWN, and WDAY are all tickers to follow.

Don’t miss the economic data, either: while today’s calendar is mostly empty, tomorrow we’ll see Consumer Confidence, New Home Sales, and get the minutes of the Fed’s November FOMC meeting. Wednesday publishes Initial Jobless Claims, Personal Income & Spending, and the first revision to 3Q GDP.

Don’t miss the Schwab Network’s market coverage, earnings breakdowns, and more!
